Facilitator, Resource Mobilisation
Durba, besides serving as a Board Member, also invests part of her time to raise & manage resources for CYC. She is also Director- Communications at Pravah. A Post Graduate in Comparative Literature, Durba worked with Vikramshila, Kolkata in the field of education for many years. Before joining Pravah in 2000, she was a consultant for Ashoka - Innovators for the Public, CRY- Child Rights and You, and other organizations. Durba was awarded the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship in 2005 to explore an intensive youth volunteering programme at Voluntary Service Overseas (UK), and she facilitated the replication of it by Pravah in an Indian context. Durba is trained in Bharatnatyam, and works regularly with young people to build their skills and appreciation in dance.
Coordinator, Commutiny Media Network
Kanika facilitates the Commutiny Media Network and has a Master's in Social Development from the University of Sussex, prior to which she volunteered in the relief camps of Ahmedabad, post the 2002 communal riots. She was a part of Pravah's Youth Intervention team for 4 years, during the course of which she designed and facilitated transformational journeys of young people. She currently consults with Pravah, as well as with CYC in the CMN Programme.
Facilitator, Accounts & Administration
Khateeb anchors the Accounts & Admin functions at CYC. A die hard cricket fan, he enjoys crunching numbers and is mostly found juggling figures on his computer. He is a Commerce graduate fro University from Delhi and was working with Pratham Delhi Educational Initiative before he joined CYC.
Coordinator, Creative Media & Policy Group
Kuber currently anchors the Commutiny Media & Policy Group of CYC. Kuber is an award winning ethnographic filmmaker focusing on Urban Indian stories. He is a staunch believer in the power & relevance of grassroots films and plans to work dedicatedly in this field. Before CYC, he has worked with mainstream media organisations such as Hindustan Times, TV Today & Star India. Kuber has a Masters degree in Mass Communication from AJK MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia and a Bachelors degree in Journalism from DCAC, Delhi University.
Associate Coordinator, Leadership & Learning Journey
Manak works with the Learning and Leadership Journey Programme of CYC. A filmmaker by training, Manak has worked on social action and development projects on policy formulation, advocacy and documentation and trainings with different groups and organisation. He enjoys working with young people and has a keen interest in learning more about work on gender and media in the development sector. He has a Masters degree in Mass communication from AJK MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia, and has also worked on various independent documentary film projects.
Facilitator, Commutiny Media Network
Nivedita facilitates the Commutiny Media Network at CYC. She divides her time between CYC and Pravah where she leads the Global Exchange Program. She is also an independent consultant working with young people and youth facilitators. She enjoys working with young people and is especially interested in exploring collaborative & egalitarian methods for learning & working. She has also worked at CEVA, Chandigarh where she helped facilitate their transition from a hierarchical organisation to a collective.
Facilitator, Leadership & Learning Journey
Rama has been working as the Facilitator, Learning and Leadership Journey since 2008. She graduated from TISS in 1999. She has been part of various grassroots interventions in the area of gender rights, community development, urban poverty and urban health doing program management, training and collaborative work with state, civil society and people's groups. Starting work with Vividha, Jaipur, she got opportunity to become part of women's movement and various campaigns for people's rights in Rajasthan. For four years, She worked as a State Resource Team member for a statewide Violence intervention & Holistic redressal Programme for women facing violence, housed in Vishakha, Jaipur. Parallely she has worked with Muskaan, Bhopal on issues of urban poverty, urban health of communities living in highly vulnerable slums and created interventions among women, men & youth for gender equity. To explore the notions of spaces among young people, she has conducted a study on 'Spaces for Communication: Use of Mobiles in a Women's College' as a Sarai Media Fellow in 2006.
