Deepak Kumar

About Me:

Deepak Kumar, hailing from Samastipur, Bihar, brings a diverse background and a wealth of experiences to his work in the social sector. Graduating in English literature from St. Xavier's College, Deepak delved into street and stage theatre, focusing on pertinent issues such as rape culture, menstrual hygiene, and masculinity. Through his involvement in theatre, he discovered his knack for connecting with people and found his passion for working with young individuals, particularly in the realms of caste, gender, class, and development.

Seeking to deepen his understanding and impact, Deepak pursued a master's degree in Social Work with a specialization in women-centered practices at TISS. During his time at TISS, he gained valuable experience in addressing issues of masculinity and violence against women, collaborating with law enforcement agencies through projects like special cells for women and children. Following his academic journey, Deepak joined Pravah, where he has dedicated the last 2 and a half years to empowering young people, particularly in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and combatting early and child marriage.

As a school social worker at Bluebells International School, Deepak continues his mission to uplift and empower young minds. Outside of work, he finds joy in cooking, playing football, and indulging in non-fiction reading and creative writing, including poetry and plays. Deepak's multifaceted interests and unwavering dedication to youth empowerment underscore his commitment to creating positive change in both individual lives and broader communities.
