शेहनाझ मालिक

ये तब की बात है, जब इस दुनिया में आई ही नहीं थी, उस वक्त हमारा देश आजाद हो रहा था। गुलामी से, अंग्रेजों के शासन से आजादी की खुशी थी और एक तरफ जलन। व्यक्तियों के लिए ऐसी चिंगारी ने जन्म लिया जो 50 साल पहले लगी थी पर आज की हर धमाकों में आग लगाती हुई दिखती है। उन्हीं सब में एक ऐसी चिंगारी थी जो सभी में थी, हर इंसान के मन में है, वो है ‘इंसानियत’ जो एक इंसान को दूसरे इंसान से बांधती हैं और शायद बांधती रहेगी!

A meeting had been set up inside Mudumalai with the Paniyas and Kattunayakans, two prominent forest dwelling tribes of Nilgiris. The Paniyas seemed willing to move out of the core zone of the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. They were afraid that Tarsh, representing a pro-adivasi organization, would try to convince them against it as it'd hurt their culture, lifestyle and values.

इस देश के बुद्धिजीवियों का एक बड़ा वर्ग यह मानता है कि आज के दौर में हम सभी 'नॉलेज सोसायटी' का हिस्सा हैं, जिसमें ज्ञान के एक बड़े हिस्से को समाज के सभी वर्गों तक पंहुचाने की महत्वपूर्ण जिम्मेदारी मीडिया के कंधे पर है। लोकतंत्र के महत्वपूर्ण स्तंभ के रूप में भी मीडिया से इस तरह के योगदान की अपेक्षा पहले भी थी और आज भी है। किसी भी नैतिक समाज के निर्माण के लिए यह जरूरी है कि उसका आधार एक सही ज्ञान की जड़ों से जुड़ा हो। यूनेस्को की एक रिपोर्ट "The World Ahead: Our Future in the Making", में यह साफ रेखांकित किया गया है कि किसी भी नैतिक समाज का निर्माण बाजार नहीं कर सकता।

कोलकाता के संजय, ललिता, बबिता, पूनम और योगेश के मन में राजस्थान को लेकर कई छवियां एक साथ तैर रही हैं। कईयों को लगता है कि राजस्थान की औरतें बहुत खड़ूस होती है, तो कोई यह मानता है कि वहां के लोग शराब ज्यादा पीते हैं। बबिता को लगता है कि राजस्थान में बहुत काजू-किशमिश की खेती होती है, लेकिन योगेश को तो यही पता है कि वहां के लोग बहुत गंदे होते हैं।
